From May 25 to 26, 2026, an interprovincial forum for exchange, dialogue, and advocacy for social cohesion and conflict prevention was held in Doba, in the Logone Oriental province of Chad. Organized jointly by Coginta within the framework of the LAPIA project funded by the European Union, and by Humanity & Inclusion within the framework of the AgroFem project funded by the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund (PBF), this forum aimed to strengthen peaceful coexistence, promote community dialogue, and improve the involvement of women and youth in conflict management.

The event brought together around one hundred participants from the provinces of Logone Oriental, Mandoul, and Moyen-Chari, including administrative authorities, traditional chiefs, heads of joint conflict management and prevention committees, and representatives of women's and youth organizations. At the opening of the proceedings, the Government Delegate General to the province of Logone Oriental commended this initiative, which aims to strengthen social cohesion and encourage community participation in conflict prevention mechanisms.

Over two days, several presentations led by ministerial officials, prefects, researchers, and technical partners helped identify the main challenges facing communities. Discussions focused on conflicts related to access to natural resources, community tensions, the low participation of women and youth in decision-making, the shortcomings of local mediation mechanisms, and the effects of disinformation and cross-border crime.

The discussions also highlighted the importance of the role of the state and traditional authorities in preventing insecurity. Participants emphasized the need to strengthen the capacities of traditional leaders and border surveillance mechanisms in the face of rising cattle rustling, armed robbery, and other forms of organized crime that are weakening local communities. They also advocated for increased human, logistical, and security resources to improve border control.

At the conclusion of the forum, participants adopted a final declaration marking their commitment to strengthening their actions in support of social cohesion, the peaceful management of natural resources, cross-border security, and adaptation to the effects of climate change. Provincial roadmaps for peaceful coexistence in the three provinces were also disseminated to serve as a framework for future conflict prevention and peacebuilding efforts.
