Chad: First steering committee of the LAPIA project
Yesterday morning, Wednesday 12 February, the first steering committee of the project to support social cohesion and peaceful cohabitation in southern Chad (LAPIA), funded by the European Union and implemented by Coginta, was held in N'Djamena. After three months of effective start-up of activities, the session was co-chaired by the Permanent Secretary for NGOs and Humanitarian Affairs of the Ministry of Economy and Planning, and the Acting Head of Cooperation of the Delegation of the European Union to Chad.
This meeting marks the first important step at the political level in the monitoring and strategic orientation of the project. It notably saw the participation of the secretaries general of the ministries involved, local administrative authorities from the three provinces concerned, including the prefects, heads of civil society organizations, as well as coordinators of the member organizations of the consortium.
As a reminder, the objective of the LAPIA project is to contribute to the consolidation of peace and peaceful cohabitation through dialogue between communities, prevention and resolution of conflicts in southern Chad. It aims more specifically to strengthen the capacities of community actors and local civil society to diffuse and prevent intercommunity tensions and promote peaceful cohabitation between communities in the provinces of Logone Oriental, Mandoul and Moyen-Chari.
